Estancia La Josefina sits on the northern international arm of San Martín Lake, in the heart of the Andes, about 290 km from El Calafate.
High in the Patagonian cordillera, glaciers, forests and steppe meet more than 40 km of lake shoreline, rivers, high-altitude valleys and lagoons: every Patagonian landscape gathered in one place.
One of the few places in the world reachable only on foot, on horseback, or by boat. A journey that shouldn't be approached with arrival in mind - it should be savored, on Patagonia's own time.

Since 2021, La Josefina has welcomed guests from around the world who travel to San Martín Lake in search of a wild, remote nature experience.
Glamping
4 domes with every comfort, and panoramic views of the lake, mountains and glaciers. Each offers a private bathroom, wood-stove heating and comfortable beds. Electricity is 100% renewable (wind and solar).

Routes adapt to each visitor's pace and ability, from gentle trails to steep terrain, with half-day outings, full-day journeys, or longer expeditions.
Gastronomy
The kitchen is built on local, seasonal produce, with fire at its heart, lending every dish that smoky aroma so characteristic of Patagonia. Lake trout, estancia-raised meats and garden vegetables come together in a simple, honest, flavor-driven menu. Meals are served in a dome that doubles as dining room and lounge.

An estancia that produces nature
La Josefina holds around 6,000 hectares of native forest - coihue, lenga and ñire - along with all the flora and fauna that depend on it. What was once a cattle ranch is now becoming an estancia that produces nature.
We work to restore landscapes affected by past wildfires and historic livestock management, removing feral cattle that still roam part of the property and, through trampling and browsing, degrade forest cover. As of March 2026, around 750 of a planned 1,200 head have been removed. As the cattle retreat, species such as the huemul, spotted in 2026, are reclaiming ground.
La Josefina is an ecological unit of major conservation value and part of a key biological corridor for the region: it borders the TucuTucu Provincial Reserve and lies close, on the Chilean side, to Bernardo O’Higgins National Park.
